    Description:

    Position Summary :

    Responsible for scheduling work, training staff, auditing quality of staff work and day to day operations of work unit. Implements systems and processes within the department. Facilitates team development among staff. Recommends policy and procedure changes. Ensures consistent and accurate application of policies and procedures.

    PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

    • Encourages employee participation in unit meetings

    • Provides both positive and constructive performance feedback on an ongoing basis

    • Provides appropriate orientation/training for employees

    • Ensures competency of staff and addresses learning needs

    • Reviews and submits timecards to manager timely and maintains employee attendance record

    • Hires, Fires, discipline, promote and demote staff

    • Creates an environment where staff participate in making decisions that impact their workflow

    OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

    • Allocates and delegates work effectively and sets priorities with realistically achievable goals

    • Develops and maintains policies and procedures relevant to coding

    • Motivates and empowers staff to achieve optimal results

    • Ensures consistent and accurate application of policies and procedures

    • Assesses and monitors workflow to and from the coding team and any additional services

    • Maintains productivity reports for employees and escalates to the manager any productivity related problems

    • Staffs work area with appropriately qualified employees, ensuring that an adequate number of staff are scheduled for each shift

    • Orients, trains and cross-trains staff to enhance flexibility within the workforce

    QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

    • Effectively assess and improves work unit's performance via quality audits

    • Balances creativity and risk taking with practicality and accountability for achieving quality outcomes

    • Ensures the timely and accurate collection of data relative to QI indicators

    • Recommends priorities in multidisciplinary problem solving

    • Develop action plans to achieve improvement

    • Monitors trends in denials and coding reviews, and provides education to the coders

    Pay Range:$21.97 - $41.55

    Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
