  • Tool and Die Maker will be responsible to interpreting highly technical electronic and written blueprints, models, and specifications to produce tools, dies, progressive dies, and special devices used on manufacturing machines to mass-produce metal parts. The Tool and Die Maker will also be responsible for analyzing specifications, laying out metal stock, setting up and operating machine tools, and fitting and assembling parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.

    Responsibilities:

    • Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools. File, grind, shim, and adjust parts to properly fit them together.

    • Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.

    • Lift, position, and secure machined parts on surface plates or worktables, using hoists, vises, v-blocks, or angle plates.

    • Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary.

    • Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or power grinders.

    • Troubleshooting and repairing dies when needed.

    • Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.

    • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.

    • Setup and operate tool room machinery including manual mills, manual lathes, surface grinders, and drill presses.

    • 1st shift (7am-4:30-5pm), Direct Hire.
