    PRIMARY FUNCTION:

    Plan and develop methods, sequences and techniques and coordinate complex functional and operational electrical/electronic tests on such products as turbine generator sets and other prototype and developmental electrical systems and components. troubleshoot and determine cause of failure or malfunction for test equipment, facility equipment or product under test and determine corrective action.

    TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

    Fixed and variable AC and DC single and three phase power supplies, loading equipment, pulse generator, dynamometer, frequency meters, impedance bridge, oscilloscopes, recorders, circuit testers, dielectric strength test sets, measuring and indicating instruments such as polarity, resistance, capacitance, inductance, current, voltage, speed, temperature and pressure and various hand tools.

    MATERIAL:

    Power supplies, turbine generator sets, electronic modules, printed circuit boards, motors, controllers, conduit, wire, lighting and various electrical replacement parts.

    DIRECTION OF OTHERS:

    Direct lower classified testers assigned to help.

    WORKING PROCEDURE:

    THE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT, NOR THE QUESTION BEING RAISED ON THE PROPER RATE FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.

    1. Receive work assignment from supervision.

    2. Read and follow safety regulations and procedures, MI package including drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, change notices, test procedures, operation sheets, specifications and work authorizations.

    3. Determine from general information the methods, sequences, techniques, tooling and test equipment necessary to perform a variety of experimental and developmental tests including loading or load simulation.

    4. Plan, coordinate and conduct all types of electrical/electronic prototype and developmental tests.

    5. Select, set up, connect, wire and assemble proper test equipment for troubleshooting and repair of test stand equipment and items under test.

    6. Inspect apparatus for missing parts and defects to ensure it is safe for testing.

    7. Install, test and repair indoor and outdoor lighting circuits and fixtures, power and lighting panels, transformers, alarms and associated equipment.

    8. Determine troubleshooting and testing procedures for components or products with electronic controls and systems, solid state components and integrated circuits where a thorough analysis of electronic systems and components is required.

    9. Troubleshoot to determine cause of malfunction or failure and take corrective action required on AC/DC

    motors, generators, power supplies, control systems, instrumentation systems.

    1. Disassemble and disconnect components to access or remove malfunctioning circuits, components or units for repair or replacement. Reassemble as required.

    2. Compile and record data as required.

    3. Restore components or product after test to operable and/or shipping condition.

    4. Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment including cleaning connections and

    windings, tightening connections, retapping and insulating connections, etc.

    1. Maintain tools, test equipment and work area in clean and orderly condition.

    2. Observe safety rules and be familiar with emergency shutdown procedures.

    3. Perform other work of equal or lower classification as required.
